Free Gas for a Year Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES & REGULATIONS

The Red River Co‑op Free Gas for a Year Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by Red River Cooperative Ltd (the “Sponsor”). The Contest begins 12:00 am, Central Time April 29, 2024 (the “Contest Start Date”) and ends 11:59 pm Central Time June 23, 2024 (the “Contest Closing Date”), known as the “Contest Period”.

General Contest Information: The Contest is being played at approximately 50 participating Red River Cooperative locations in the province of Manitoba and the Kenora District of Ontario (“Participating Locations”).

1. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.  There are two (2) ways to enter the Contest, as follows:

Entry Methods:

Electronic Entry:  Customers can enter the URL or scan the QR code provided on all marketing materials, and then complete all required fields, including a valid Participating Locations receipt upload: showing the location, purchase date (within the Contest Period) and amount spent; on the contest entry form with a valid email address at www.redrivercooppromotions.com. 

Mail Entry:  Customers can enter the Contest with a self-addressed stamped envelope to c/o Red River Co‑op Free Gas for a Year Contest, PO Box 28, Port Perry, ON, L9L 1A2.  The envelope must contain a fully completed ballot entry from a Participating location. Any questionable ballots will be discarded from the Contest. Any mailing containing more than one Entry will be discarded, including all of the Entries. No mechanical reproductions permitted.

Each Electronic Entry and Mail Entry is known as an “Entry” and collectively as “Entries.” Neither the Administrator nor the Prize Sponsor take any responsibility for any lost, stolen, delayed, illegible, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed incomplete or incompatible Entries (all of which are void). 

Limit one (1) Entry per person regardless of the method of entry, email address, telephone numbers or addresses provided per day.  If it is discovered by the Administrator (using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Administrator) that any person has attempted to: (i) obtain an Entry (regardless of the method of entry) by any means other than as permitted in accordance with these Contest rules; and/or (ii) use multiple names or identities to enter or otherwise participate in or to disrupt this Contest; then he/she may be disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Administrator.

All entries must be received on or before the Contest Closing Date.

During the Contest Period, there will be one (1) bi-weekly draw. Bi-Weekly draws will be taken from all of the entries received by the Sponsor within the Contest Period. Draws will be as follows:

2. ELIGIBILITY:

Eligible

To enter the Contest and be eligible to win a prize in the contest a person must be a resident of Manitoba or the Kenora District of Ontario, and the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which he or she resides (“Eligible Entrant”). 

Not Eligible 

The Sponsor’s employees and the Sponsor’s Board of Directors as well as the immediate family* and those domiciled with the Sponsor’s employees and Board of Directors are not eligible to participate in the Contest or win prizes in the Contest.

Employees of the Sponsor’s member retail co-operatives (“Co‑ops”), the Co‑ops’ Board of Directors as well as the immediate family and those domiciled with the Co‑ops’ employees and the Co‑ops’ Board of Directors are not eligible to participate in the Contest or win prizes in the Contest. ’Immediate family” includes parents, siblings, children, and spouses.

Employees, shareholders, directors, and officers of the Sponsor’s independent dealers (“Dealers”), as well as the Sponsor’s and the Co‑ops’ operators, affiliates, agents, independent judging organization, consulting, advertising, and promotional agencies, as well as those domiciled with and the immediate family* of the foregoing, are not eligible to participate in the Contest or win prizes in the Contest.

3. PRIZES:

There is one (1) Grand Prize (a “Grand Prize”) and a total of four bi-weekly (4) (a “Second Prize”) prizes:

ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE INCLUDES:

  • Free gas for a year, awarded as $3,200 in gift cards, with an approximate retail value of $3,200 CAD

TOTAL OF FOUR (4) BI-WEEKLY PRIZES, WHICH INCLUDE: 

  •  One (1) $1,000 gift card, with an approximate total retail value of $4,000 CAD

 TOTAL APPROXIMATE VALUE OF ALL PRIZES = $7,200 CAD.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Prizes may not be sold, converted to cash, are non-transferable, and no substitutions are permitted. One prize per winning entry; one prize per household. The Sponsor reserves the right, in the event that a prize or any component of a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute another prize of equal or greater value without liability. Prizes may not be exactly as shown in the Contest publicity or promotional materials.

The Sponsor reserves the right to issue gift cards Prizes from Federated Co‑op Ltd and/or a third-party gift card vendor and/or cards under the Federated Co‑op brand. 

The chances of being selected are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Prize Winner will be required to sign a Statement of Compliance, Release, and Indemnity Agreement. 

4. PRIZE WINNERS:

Second Prize Draws

Random Second Prize draws will be made as per Table 1 above (each a “Second Draw Date”). All random Second Prize draws will be made in Seagrave, ON from among all eligible entries received within the period specified in the Second Draw Date table. Contest entries for a Second Draw must be received before the last day of the period specified in the Second Draw Date table. One (1) Eligible Entrant will be selected from amongst all eligible Contest entries within the period specified in the Second Draw Date table (being a “elected Entrant”).

Grand Prize Draws

All Contest entries must be submitted to the Sponsor on or before the Contest Closing Date.  One (1) Eligible Entrant will be selected from amongst all eligible Contest entries received in accordance with these Contest rules (being a “Selected Entrant”).  The Selected Entrant for the Grand Prize will be determined by a random drawing by the Sponsor to be held on July 5, 2024 at 2:00pm ET in Seagrave, ON.

Selected Entrants for the Second Prizes and the Grand Prize will be contacted by email by My Brother Darryl within seven (7) days of the draw date. If a Selected Entrant cannot be contacted within 7 days of the draw date his/her entry will be disqualified and another entrant will be randomly selected. To be declared a Prize Winner, the Selected Entrant must (1) correctly answer a four-part mathematical skill testing question, without mechanical aid, to be administered via telephone, mail or email; and (2) complete, sign and return a Statement of Compliance, Release and Indemnity Agreement to the Sponsor within fourteen (14) days of receipt of written prize notification or prize will be forfeited and an alternate Prize Winner selected. The Prize Winners consent to the use of their name, address (city and province), and photograph without compensation, in any future publicity carried out by the Sponsor.

5. GENERAL:

By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by the Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of the Contest, which are final. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws. To request a copy of the Official Rules and Regulations, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Red River Co‑op Free Gas for a Year Contest, Box 28, Port Perry, ON, L9L 1A2.

All entries become the property of the Sponsor, and none will be returned. By entering this Contest, entrants’ consent to the use of their name and address (city and province) by the Sponsor for the purposes stated herein.

The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant in the event of fraudulent Contest entry or other violation of the Official Rules. Entry forms are subject to verification and void if obtained illegitimately, or if altered, mutilated, forged, or tampered with, or irregular in any way. 

Subject to applicable law, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion and for any reason, to cancel, terminate, modify the Official Rules or administration of the Contest, or suspend this Contest in whole or in part without prior notice and with no obligation or liability. In the Sponsor’s sole discretion, a Prize Winner may be selected by randomly drawing from among all valid entries received up to the time of cancellation, termination, or suspension. 

6. PRIVACY:

The Red River Co‑op dealers at Participating Locations and the Sponsor respect your right to privacy. Personal information collected is not sold, rented, or loaned to any third parties. 

Subject to Section 7, the Sponsor will use the information collected solely to administer the Contest. No correspondence will be entered into except with the Selected Entrants. 

Red River Co‑operatives Limited will handle the entrant’s personal information in accordance with its privacy policies and practices, which can be accessed on its website redriverco-op.crs/sites/redriver/; and in accordance with applicable laws. By completing and submitting a Contest entry form you consent to the collection use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes stated herein. 

7. PUBLICITY AND ENTRANT INFORMATION:

By participating in the Contest, entrants consent to the use of their name (first and last), address, postal code, telephone number, email address, social media handles, comments and image, whether on videotape, photograph or any other means, all as may be edited, translated or otherwise modified by the Sponsor in Sponsor’s sole discretion, for the administration of this Contest or any publicity carried out by the Sponsor, without further notice or compensation.  

8. RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION:

The winners must sign the Sponsor’s Winner Release to: (i) confirm compliance with the Contest Rules; (ii) agree to accept the prize as awarded; (iii) release, discharge and hold harmless the Sponsor, Administrator, Red River Co‑op dealers, its departments and agencies, parents, related and affiliated companies, subsidiaries, franchisees, advertising and promotional agencies, counsel, marketing partners, and each of their respective directors, board members, officers, employees, shareholders, successors, sponsors, partners, licensees, subsidiaries, agents, artists, advisors, assignees, and all others associated with the administration, development and execution of the Contest (the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all manner of action, cause of action, claim or demand, loss or injury, use or misuse of a prize or any travel related thereto, and the use of the Entry by the Sponsor or Administrator, suit, debt, covenant, contract, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims based on negligence, breach of contract and fundamental breach, failure of any third party contractor or supplier used in connection with any aspect of the Contest to perform or deliver any goods or services, any act of God or any other event beyond the Released Parties’ control, any dissatisfaction of any kind by a winner with any aspect of the Contest or any prize, liability for physical injury, death, or property damage which the entrants, guests, their heirs, successors or assigns have, might have or could have suffered, by reason of or arising out of the entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or exercise by the entrant of the Prize as awarded; and (iv) indemnify the Released Parties against any loss, damage or expense, including legal fees, that any of the Released Parties may suffer or incur as a result of any non-compliance by an entrant with any of the Contest Rules or participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or exercise by an entrant of a prize and the use of the Entry by Sponsor.

The Sponsor is not responsible for: (i) incorrect or inaccurate Entry information which may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Contest or be awarded a prize, including but not limited to human error, technical malfunctions, lost or delayed entries for any reason, mail failures, omission, or any combination thereof, and entries which fail to fully comply with these Contest Rules; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (iii) lost, incomplete, delayed, mutilated or misdirected entries or Declaration and Release forms; (iv) injury or damage to the entrant’s computer or to any other individual’s computer related to or resulting from participating in, or downloading any material regarding the Contest or accepting a prize; (v) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, including any travel related thereto and the use of the Entry by Sponsor or Administrator; (vi) the security or privacy of information transmitted via computer networks or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computer “hackers” or otherwise; or (vii) late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify a potential winner.

9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:

All intellectual property, including but not limited to trademarks, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, images, drawings, illustrations, slogans, and representations are owned by the Sponsor.  All rights are reserved.  Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or other intellectual property without the express written consent of the Sponsor is strictly prohibited.  The Sponsor’s marketing or other partners, if any, shall also have access to and rights to reproduce, copy or otherwise use any materials generated by this Contest or any submissions or materials generated by entrants. Co‑op is a Registered trademark of Federated Co‑operatives Limited. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

10. GOVERNING LAW:

These Official Contest Rules & Regulations are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Manitoba and federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of laws principles that would require the application of the laws of another jurisdiction. Any disputes relating to or arising from these Official Contest Rules & Regulations shall be brought and resolved solely and exclusively in the Province of Manitoba. All entrants agree that the courts of Winnipeg, Manitoba shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising from or related to these Official Contest Rules & Regulations.
